The Moment

A lot of my philosophy of life has been influenced by the beautiful songs that I grew up listening. The song "Aane wala pal, jaane wala hai" from the 1979 movie Golmaal is one of them. Of course, I love the melodious music of R. D. Burman and the superb rendition of Kishore Kumar, but what I love most about this song is the inspiring lyrics of Gulzaar.

Below is my crude translation/interpretation of the lyrics. It's followed by a recording of the song in my voice.

The moment that is about to come will soon depart.
If you can, live your life fully in this present moment,
Because this moment will soon be gone forever.

Once, I met this innocent bud,
As it blossomed, it said, "I am leaving happily (probably in love)."
I have seen the moment here, but haven't been able to search for it,
Because the present moment is soon gone forever.

Once, a moment fell away from time somewhere,
But I found an entire story there, not the moment.
After making you laugh a little and cry a little,
Even this moment will be gone forever.

The moment that is about to come will soon depart.
If you can, live your life fully in this present moment,
Because this moment will soon be gone forever.

Hope you liked the song.
Be kind to everyone (including yourself), and try to live every moment of your life as wholeheartedly as you can!!

  3. Good singing. Well translated too. Maybe somewhat literal, but not crude at all.
